Kat is currently an Americorps VISTA volunteer and MAT student for Chemistry Education. As an Americorps volunteer she works toward creating more engineering and STEM opportunities for under-served students in K-12 long island schools. She has received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from SUNY New Paltz and has interned at Argonne and Berkeley National Laboratories on environmental engineering projects. She is interested in STEM education research because she feels that our STEM education curriculum should incorporate current science and environmental research, and that this field has a lot of opportunities and improvements to be made for undeserved students. Her other interests include: hiking, cooking, and hanging out with awesome people.
